Next on the list was a hidden gem I had never heard of until recently. The boutique bakery specialises in all things doughnuts, with the baked goods freshly made every day. Tantrum Doughnuts is  a unique café that has two stores, one across the road from central station and the other hidden away in the west end. They advertise themselves as an alternative route to accessing luxurious patisserie products, and pride themselves on the local produce used to craft the doughnuts.

Something special about this shop is their unique opening times, that just make sense. Rather then the traditional set opening and closing times, tantrum doughnuts have taken a different avenue and stay open until they sell out.  They batch bake all of their delicious offerings that prove overnight, first thing in the morning and whatever quantity they have at that time will be all for the day. Unless of course they don't sell and then they shut shop around 6!

The city centre location is in a prime place on Gordon street, but if you cant be bothered to make the trek there then they also do UberEats and Deliveroo, a perfect compromise for those lazy days. The tantrum doughnuts storefront is the embodiment of the term lanky, as the narrow width is complimented by the high ceilings that create a modern feel. The interior is decorated beautifully with colourful graphics that compliment tantrum doughnuts aesthetic, and in turn makes you feel a lil edgy. The pièce de résistance of course was the glass casing that displayed all the delicious flavours on offer. Even the basic doughnut flavours have a twist to them, making more of an experience for your taste buds. Their flavours range from classics such as jam filled, lemon, chocolate millionaire to double blueberry & white chocolate, and caramel apple crumble. 

I personally struggled to chose between them all and ended up getting a box of 6 as well as a hot chocolate. Each doughnut is in the price range of £1-£2.25, with my box of 6 costing about £12. For the quality you get from these homemade goodies the price feels justified! The doughnuts fully lived up to my expectations and made the perfect treat to end a day of zoom classes. Whether they are for yourself or a gift to share around, these doughnuts capture the essence of wholesome and know how to perk up your day. Another flawless recommendation from TikTok!
